What we’ve been doing

Tidewater has continued and is working to expand their successful Food Program, check out their update here on Instagram or Twitter. Piedmont’s continuing their work with the Richmond Tenant’s Union and helping tenants liberate themselves from oppressive conditions. Appalachia is working on deciding their next steps. Northern Virginia is working towards increasing democracy in Fairfax and uniting the efforts of pro-Palestine organizers, those like Reston Strong who support and fight alongside unhoused folks, the teachers union, and the NAACP as they fight for more equality and less racism in housing and policing in Fairfax. We’re also working to identify our favored candidate for the special election in district 11 to replace Gerry Connolly, and how that may impact our region and other elections that may follow.

What we’ve been writing

We’ve had three articles from the District get picked up by People’s World this month. Check out our District Organizer, Comrade Emile Scheper’s articles on the White House embracing apartheid and tussling with South Africa:

NoVA’s Comrade Elijah Crawford wrote about the recent successes, and some ongoing battles, as northern Virginians fight back against ICE cooperation, joining thousands across the country.

What we’ve been reading

Our clubs are reading Lenin’s Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism and The Three Sources and Three Component parts of Marxism. In our District-wide education meetings, we’ve been discussing Revolutionary Professionalism, Revolutionary Discipline, Socialist Administration, Political Economy, and Class Struggle.

National CPUSA put out a great piece related to Revolutionary Professionalism and Discipline that we discussed heavily across our clubs and district. We recommend it to all comrades: Terror Opens the Door for Repression
